With over 3100 public car parks available in Downtown Tauranga, there are plenty to choose from.

There is parking available the length of the Tauranga City Centre and throughout the fringe streets.  The majority of these are pay and display parks.  Charges and times of operation are clearly marked on the machines.

Parking restrictions for on street parking apply between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm on Saturday.  Restrictions do not apply on Sundays or public holidays.

P Signs indicate that time-restricted parking applies in the signed area eg: P15 indicates 15 minutes maximum parking allowed.

Always check signage in the area where you are parked so that you are aware of any restrictions that apply.

Mobility Parking

 On street mobility parking is available in the following areas;

Civic Car Park - There are two mobility parking spaces behind the Libary.  Both parks are suitable for long wheel base vehicles.

Cliff Road - There is one mobility parking space opposite the Botanical Gardens. 

Devonport Road - There are two mobility parking spaces on Devonport Road in teh City Centre.

Durham Street - There are four mobility parking spaces.  Three around Baycourt and one outside the University of Waikato.

Elizabeth Street - There are two mobility parking spaces.  One outside the Cinema which has a slight gradient and one outside the Inland Revenue Department which is suitable for a long wheel base vehicle.

Elizabeth Street Car Park Building - There are nine mobility parking spaces in this car park building.

First Avenue - There are four mobility parking spaces outside the Lyceum Club.

Grey Street - There are three mobility parking spaces.  One outisde the offices of ACC, one outside Langtons Lingerie which is suitable for a long wheel base vehicle and outside Rydall house (close to the National Bank).

Hamilton Street - There is one mobility parking space ouside Workbridge.

Harington Street - There are two mobility parking spaces.  One adjacent to Harington House and one in the Harington House car park.

McLean Street - There is one mobility parking space outside McLean Chambers.

Mission Street - There is one mobility parking space outside the Elms.

Second Avenue - There is one mobility parking space outside the Accident and Medical Clinic. 

Spring Street Car Park Building - There are 6 mobility parking spaces in this car park building.

Strand Reclamation - There are four mobility parking spaces.  There are two in the Southern Strand Reclamation carpark just north of the Edgewater Park area and one in the northern space adjacent to the railway track.  The other one is in the newly formed 'pocket park' in the Northern Strand Reclamation car park.

The Strand - There is one mobility parking space between Wharf and Spring Streets.

Wharf Street - There is one mobility parking space between Willow Street and The Strand.

Willow Street - There are three mobility parking spaces.  One in Masonic car park opposite the City Council and two outside the information Centre.

Mums and Prams

The two car park buildings have car parking spaces reserved for mums with prams.  In the Elizabeth Street Car Park building there are 12 parks available and in the Spring Street Car Park Building there are four.

Motorcylce Parking  

There are reserved parking for motorcylces in the folling areas of the City Centre;

Devonport Road - On the west side there are two spaces allocated for motorcycles.

Durham Street - On the west side there are two spaces allocated for motorcylces.

Elizabeth Street - On the north side there are three spaces allocated for motorcycles.

First Avenue - On the south side there is one space allocated for motorcycles 

Grey Street -  On the east side there are four triangular spaces allocated for motorcycles and on the west side there are eight triangular spaces allocated for motorcycles.

Wharf Street - On the south side there is one space allocated for motorcycles.

Willow Street -  On both sides there is a space allocated for motorcycles.

Parking Fees - Pay & Display and Parking Buildings 

Pay & Display Machines   

$1.20 - $2.00 per hour / $5.50 per day except Dive Crescent which is $2.50 per day.  Monthly pre-paid concession tickets are available from Tauranga City Council offices for $80.00 per month.

Please note that the IRD, Masonic and Council Car Parks are 3 hour maximum parking areas.

Parking Buildings 

$1.00 for the first hour to a maximum of $13.00 per day.

There is an early bird rate if you are in before 9.30am and out after 4pm.  This is $9.00 per day or if when you leave at the end of the day you have three or more people in your vehicle you will only pay $3.00 instead of $9.00.  This offer applies when parking for six or more hours.

0-1 hours     $1.00

1-2 hours     $1.50

2-3 hours     $3.00

3-4 hours     $4.00

4-5 hours     $6.00

5-6 hours     $8.50

6-7 hours   $10.00

7-8 hours   $12.00

8+ hours    $13.00

overnight    $13.00

Leased Parking

The City Council has seven parking areas that provide leased parking.  They range in price from $90.00 to $130.00 per month.      

 

Did you know...

There is a Parking Loyalty Card for the Elizabeth and Spring Street car park buildings and free parking every weekend until Christmas.
